When I started pet sitting 17 years ago, I just kept asking myself why I hadn’t thought of this years earlier. In the distant past I held many types of jobs from nursery school cook to neurology department secretary. I worked as a temp for years - ack! It was painful to spend my days in a sterile, sealed building. I never appreciated nature as much as I did when I stepped outside for my afternoon break.

Now, I spend my days out in the fresh air with people who are really nice to be around (the animals!) I wish I had done this my whole life, I feel like a shepherdess of dogs.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and studied painting and sculpture. I paint and make ceramic sculpture. I lift weights at the gym.

Some things I like besides pet sitting: gardening, poetry, cooking & enjoying vintage cookbooks and aprons and other old household stuff. Visiting thrift shops and collectible shops looking for the old and interesting things. Reading about artists and books that teach me to do new things. I enjoy rain and stormy weather.

I would like to go on a trip to the world’s longest garage sale one of these years. They hold it in August every year. It’s 675 miles long & lasts for 4 days.

I’d like to return to India and walk through Kumba Mela after dark. Don’t worry, I’ll be here for your pets, they only hold Kumba Mela every 12 years.
